The first version of the "Communist Virus" sculpture was inaugurated at Liberty Sculpture Park on June 4, 2021, and then destroyed by arson on July 23rd.
The second version of the CCP Virus sculpture emphasizes the column shape of the Pillar of Shame, and the entire base is in the shape of a protein strain, a more abstract base, which is more organically linked to the upper part. The use of cylindrical shape of the base, and the sculpture above the shape of the formation of the top and bottom of the echo of the connection, become a whole, implying that the Chinese Communist Party nailed to the pillar of shame in history.
In terms of material, we use rebar. More than 30,000 sections of rebar were used, totaling more than 80,000 welding points. The use of rebar material makes the whole sculpture more of an artistic impact, this feeling is very different from the original fiberglass sculpture. The whole sculpture will have a sense of oppression, is the kind of cold, cold, ruthless steel, just like the "June 4 Tiananmen Square incident", the Chinese tanks in the face of the ruthlessness of the living life.
